As you rotate the model, the EXACT degrees of rotation are indicated in a small pop-up box showing any axis being rotated. With a readout and/or display of the current rotational degree and heading... you wouldn’t ever have to guess again. The guessing game gets tougher if you choose not to display a ‘virtual printer bed’…there are no visual landmarks to even judge alignment by. You want to rotate an item on any axis to a precise angle and you have to visually ‘guess’ that it has been rotated say 90 – 180 degrees from the original position. It’s incredibly useful for precise placement, for starters. It just overwrites the shortcut, the old version can still be launched from program files.ĮDIT 3: You can now break apart a model under mesh -> separate connected surfaces.ĮDIT 4: Here's a link to a cached copy of the (now removed) announcement: ĭoes anyone who uses "other" as their printer profile have the dual extrusion wizard working? I configured mine, but I get an error saying my printer profile doesn't support dual extrusion.Add ‘Degree of Rotation’ display to the rotate function.

Good find! They added some long awaited features, specifically, "print every infill angle on every layer," wipe towers, and ooze shields for dual extrusion.īe warned, the new install overwrites your old version unlike Cura, so back everything up before installing.ĮDIT: If you're looking for the import profile button, it's under File -> Import FFF Profile.ĮDIT 2: Disregard the thing about it overwriting. Very very nice update.Ģnd EDIT: Wow, they made a lot of improvements. I'm sure there's more, I just haven't had enough hands-on time to dig up all of the changes they've made. The things people had complaints about, it appears they've fixed.
It's crazy how much just changing the text on buttons can help.Īll in all I'm very impressed with the Simplif圓D team. Printer profile import/export/update/change commands now make WAY more sense. For making exact adjustments a sidebar comes out instead of the stupid popup that would appear before that would ultimately block your view of the model you were trying to adjust. You can more intuitively click and drag the model to make adjustments similarly to how, like, every other slicer works. Model manipulation (moving, scaling, rotating) is now MUCH easier. They've like, fixed pretty much every complaint I've ever had about Simplif圓D.

My god, they've done it! Full honeycomb infill!!! ProofĮdit: Wow. One neat thing about this software is it works for Linux, Mac, and Windows. Two LulzBot printers that were added are the Lulzbot Mini and TAZ 5. As far as the new software goes, I see a ton of new printer profiles. This account portal can also be used to download the software. In the new account management I can see the devices that are registered with the software and use the reset device option in an extreme circumstance. In the event your HD crashed or was stolen, you had to email support and they would allow another activation. The S3D license allowed the software to be activated on up to 2 devices.

In order to upgrade I had to verify my information and it created a new S3D account that ties my serial number, devices, and account information in one place.

One improvement I have already seen is the registration process. Current users can visit: cloud.simplif圓d.com and follow the instructions to get your new version. An official announcement is scheduled for tomorrow. It gave me an option to "Upgrade Now to Download Version 3.0” which I did. Non-reddit communities are listed in our getting started guideĮarlier today I went to download the current release of Simplif圓D after a format and reinstall of my PC.
